Commercial Auto
If your business requires the use of a vehicle other than that owned by your company, you will need to have a commercial auto insurance either as a separate policy or endorsed along with your general liability policy. Be it a full-time employee traveling from one place to another meeting clients or a part-time employee running errands on behalf and pertaining to your company, someone (most likely you) will be held responsible if an accident occurs. In other words your company will be responsible to pay for the damages if you or your employees were the ones who caused the accident during work in a vehicle not owned by your company. Hired Auto Hired auto coverage only protects that auto of which YOU borrow, rent, hire or lease. If you borrow, lend, hire or lease from any of your employees and partners, those auto will not be covered. Non-Owned Auto Non-owned auto coverage protects autos that are not owned, borrowed, rented, hired or leased that are an essential part of your business operations. It include autos owned by your employees and partners.
